Services Agreement

This agreement pertains to services provided by Opportunity Unlocked. These services include academic coaching and holistic project mentoring. In the case of academic coaching, the Client includes the student and designated family members ages 18 and up.

Scheduling: All sessions are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can schedule sessions through contacting me via text message or email. It is best to schedule recurring weekly appointments. Students see better results when they commit to standing weekly appointments for academic coaching sessions.

Payment: I accept payments through PayPal. All sessions must be paid in full before they can be scheduled. Sessions can be scheduled up to 6 months in advance.

Location: Unless otherwise explicitly discussed, all of our sessions will be conducted online or over the phone. Any in-person session must take place in a mutually agreeable public location such as a library, restaurant, or coffee shop.

Cancellation: If you need to cancel a session, you must provide at least 24-hours written notice via email. Failure to provide 24-hours notice will result in a forfeiture of the session. Repeatedly canceling sessions is grounds for terminating the client-coach relationship regardless of the notice provided.

Timeliness: I will email you a link to our session within 15 minutes of our stated start time. If you have not joined our session within 10 minutes after our agreed upon start time, then I will make reasonable efforts to reach you. If we are meeting in person, I will arrive at the location within 15 minutes of our stated start time. I will notify you via a phone call should I be encountering any travel difficulties.

Academic Integrity: Academic coaching services aim to support students’ learning while ensuring that students do all of the work required to complete assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects. At no point will I do the student’s work for him or her; any request toward this end is grounds for terminating the client-coach relationship.

Session Length: Session length is determined when a family schedules a session. For most students, I recommend a session length of 90 minutes. Students should arrive to the session prepared to answer the question, “How can I help you today?” The student has the obligation to work with me in order to use the entire session. In the advent of unused time, I will ask about upcoming assignments, how classes are going as a whole, whether the student is preparing for any tests, and if the student has anything else on their mind. I will not artificially extend a session to use up time.

Academic Interventions: At times, students may require an intervention plan to assure reasonable academic progress. Intervention plans are developed in consultation with the client and frequently include expectations such as contacting instructors, keeping an assignment journal, and turning in work in a timely fashion. To maintain integrity of the coaching relationship, a student’s failure to fulfill requirements of the intervention plan is grounds for terminating the client-coach relationship.

Student Responsibility: Students are responsible for maintaining their own files. Students may invite me to be a collaborator on files mounted on Google Drive provided they own the files. Additionally, students are responsible for attending classes, turning in homework appropriately, completing projects, and taking all assessments. At no point will I maintain a duplicate record of a major course deliverable such as an essay or a project report; any request toward this end is grounds for terminating the client-coach relationship.

Realistic Expectations: Academic coaching is not a substitute for attending class and studying independently. Students can expect to achieve the following through academic coaching: engage more deeply with course content, receive guidance for independent and group studying, improve confidence with increased feedback, and position coursework in the context of broader professional goals. It is not realistic to expect that academic coaching ensures specific homework, project, quiz, test, and course grades. While students can expect increased support around major projects and exams, it is not realistic to expect same day appointments.

Refunds: If you are dissatisfied with our coaching relationship, you may request a refund after our first session. You will be refunded your package price minus the first session fees. No refunds will be provided for unused time during a session.

Disclaimer: Client understands that I am not an agent, publicist, accountant, financial planner, lawyer, therapist, or any other licensed or registered professional. Coaching, which is not directive advice, counseling, or therapy, may address overall goals, specific projects, or general conditions in the client’s life or profession. Coaching services may include setting priorities, establishing goals, identifying resources, brainstorming, creating action plans, strategizing, asking clarifying questions, and providing models, examples, and in-the-moment skills training. I promise that all information provided by Client will be kept strictly confidential, as permissible by law.

Limitation of liability: In no event will I be liable for any losses or damages incurred by you, whether direct, indirect, incident, spoil, exemplary or consequential, including lost or anticipated profits, savings, interruption to business, loss of business opportunities, or personal injury that may arise during our work together.
