Go from imagination to action. Harness your creative superpowers. Explore engineering.
Connect kids with their passions... and each other.

What could be better?

Prepare for a summer of excitement courtesy of the Engineering Clubhouse! We will explore science, engineering, and inventions all around the word. All camps will meet in the online project space where kids can share their explorations with each other. Your kids will have fun, learn, make like-minded friends, and discover what inventors and engineers do. We will get our hands on real materials to create real projects and discover the real process of solving engineering problems.

Check out the lineup for Summer 2018! All camps meet on a flexible schedule to support kids joining around the world. Watch the video to see how online summer camps work. You can also review Frequently Asked Questions:

How do camps work?

Camps are designed to meet asynchronously so campers can connect with learners around the world. The Project Playground is powered by the Canvas Learning Management System. While on the Playground, learners will have access to moderated discussion boards, rich media content to support the needs of diverse learning styles, daily project prompts, and space to upload the results of their investigation. Many project prompts are designed to get kids outside. Camp activities are designed to run over 5 consecutive days.

Each section is intentionally limited to 12 students to help students get to know one another and develop a sense of team spirit. I will be interacting with each section on a daily basis to answer student questions, add additional content to customize the learning experience to the specific group, and give feedback on student projects.

What if I have a profoundly gifted 10, 11, or 12 year old?

I highly encourage enrolling gifted students with their age mates as the program is easy to differentiate. I am happy to create specific project spaces for groups of gifted learners. I have facilitated these programs with gifted students; I am well aware of the unique needs of gifted students. Please make a note on the student's registration.

What should we do if we're traveling?

The camps are designed to be flexible. If you're are concerned about accessing supplies, consider enrolling in Airplanes, Playgrounds, Waterparks, Music, Bridges, or Umbrellas week programs. These weeks require the fewest specific supplies.

Are scholarships available?

Yes, scholarships are available. Please contact me at support@opportunityunlocked.com to discuss your financial needs. If you would like to make it possible for other learners to participate in these programs, you can donate to Opportunity Unlocked's Scholarship Fund.

I have more questions...

No problem! Zap me an email at support@opportunityunlocked.com so I can get right back to you.

Airplanes Camp

Your imagination will soar during Airplane Week on the Project Playground. Campers will make and test paper airplane designs, explore flight science, discover how companies make and maintain airplanes, and more! Grab some paper and a ruler. It's time to fly.

Access it now for 5 days of Engineering Fun. Please be sure to complete the entire registration process to get immediate access to the camp.

$100 per participant

Playgrounds Camp

Calling all aspiring architects! It's Playground Week on the Project Playground. Campers will discover how engineers solve problems, explore playgrounds around the world, design their own ideal playground, and more! Let's get building.

Access it now for 5 days of Engineering Fun. Please be sure to complete the entire registration process to get immediate access to the camp.

$100 per participant

Rockets Camp

Lift off! We have lift off for Rocket Week on the Project Playground. Campers will investigate how engineers invented rockets while sending their own designs into the sky. You won't be able to look at balloons, plastic bottles, or aluminum foil quite the same way.

We'll be LIVE June 25-29.

$100 per participant

Fireworks Camp

Do you wonder how the rocket got its red glare? During Fireworks Week on the Project Playground, campers will explore the physics and chemistry of color. We will investigate how fireworks are made and conduct our own (safe) experiments with light.

We'll be LIVE July 2-6.

$100 per participant

Ice Cream Camp

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream during Ice Cream Week on the Project Playground. Campers will get their tongue on thermodynamics as we explore inventions related to heat transfer together. Chocolate or vanilla?

We'll be LIVE July 9-15.

$100 per participant

Waterparks Camp

Splash! During Waterparks Week on the Project Playground, it's time to get wet. Campers will explore the unique design considerations to make an awesome waterpark while investigating friction, fluid mechanics, and fun! See you on the waterslide!

We'll be LIVE July 16-20.

$100 per participant

Telescopes Camp

We will probe the mysteries of the universe during Telescope Week on the Project Playground. Campers will investigate the night sky while learning all about tools of scientific discovery. We'll get our hands on optics by making lenses and telescopes of our own!

We'll be LIVE July 23-27.

$100 per participant

Lightbulbs Camp

Quick! Turn on the lights! During Lightbulb Week on the Project Playground, campers will get their hands on circuits. We will explore the history of electricity and the evolution of electrical engineering. Projects will use household materials.

We'll be LIVE July 30-August 3.

$100 per participant

Music Camp

Maestro, please. During Music Week on the Project Playground, we'll be exploring the symphony of sound. Campers will experiment to see how different materials vibrate while discovering how instruments are made. Can you hold the tune?

We'll be LIVE August 6-10.

$100 per participant

Bridges Camp

Mind the gap during Bridge Week on the Project Playground. Campers will discover the physics behind bridges, model and construct their own bridge designs, and learn how engineers work with communities when building new bridges.

We'll be LIVE August 13-17.

$100 per participant

Umbrellas Camp

Raindrops keep falling on my head... During Umbrella Week on the Project Playground, campers will learn how engineers solve problems people encounter everyday. We'll discover the essential elements for a good invention while making an invention of our own.

We'll be LIVE August 20-24.

$100 per participant

LEGO Camp

Let go of my LEGO! During LEGO Week on the Project Playground, campers will experiment with prototyping. We will use LEGO pieces to construct diverse design ideas of machines and structures like bridges, catapults, fidget cubes, and more.

We'll be LIVE August 27-31.
